This just embodies that early/mid 2000s American metal scene to the core. Essential album for me in every way.

Yeah I don’t want to sound like an old man yells at cloud / born in the wrong generation type guy, but I do miss this era where big budgets were being thrown at guitar bands for perhaps the final time.

It was nice at the time but it was those same labels like Roadrunner that killed off a lot of that final stadium rock contingent by essentially homogenizing a lot of the scene into one sound that eventually fell out of favor with the public. Once the more indie-oriented sound of the late 00’s and 2010’s took over that was it, America’s hard rock scene was swept into obscurity and it hasn’t really recovered since then.

The 00’s wave of metalcore was prime, slowly but surely started going downhill after that.
