How can an album be so perfect such as this is?

Yeah just a genre masterpiece right here. Despite Providence (which is far from terrible) it's still a fkn 5

I know a lot of people usually point to Providence when explaining why Red isn't a 5, but I'd actually argue it's one of their best "improv"-oriented tracks (certainly better than Moonchild)

Moonchild is a very, very low bar to clear tbf. But I agree that it's among their best improv tracks. I def don't mind when it comes on, but the content surrounding it is god-tier, it just doesn't compete

Providence is a great set-up into Starless (i.e. one of the greatest songs ever written). I do prefer it to Moonchild (and I really don't mind Moonchild in all honesty, it's pretty darn good)

The first 2 minutes of Moonchild is great. Everything after that point is basically nonsense.

I know individual track ratings do not total perfectly due to numerous factors (and it's a daft way to rate) but I make that a 6.6/5 lol

probs more like 4.5/4.7/4.0/4.0/5.0 for me which kinda does (somewhat coincidentally) add up (ugh) but yes, Starless is subject to 'bonus points'

You put Providence in the same tier as Red Nightmare!? That's craaaaaaazy tho. Providence is fs one of their better improv pieces, I'm just not super big on those overall. Trio is probably my favourite one they've done.

One More Red Nightmare might actually be my favourite here if it didn't have that wet slapping sound lmao, as is I guess it's Starless yea

"I know individual track ratings do not total perfectly due to numerous factors (and it's a daft way to rate)"

Also regarding this: I've always found this an interesting take, because I know it's from a mathematical absolutist pov. Like 10/10 = 100% = literal perfection. I've never looked at 5s/10s through that lens though. There's no such thing as perfection in any artistic medium, but I don't think that's what 5/5 denotes for most people.
