Agreed, and the epics on SC are great.

Yeah but the epic on s/t is hardly epic whereas In The Presence Of Enemies and Ministries of Lost Souls are at least some very good songs off SC.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the embarrassment that is FII

New Millenium, Trial of Tears, Lines in the Sand, Hell's Kitchen, and Peruvian Skies are all fantastic.

Tried pretty hard to get into those above. Even Peruvian Skies just about scrapes it, but other than that, I just thought I'd rather be listening to something else

So much hate for FII on the previous page. It's top 5 DT for me, the album has so much more character and much stronger song writing than anything they've released since Six Degrees.

Nah I disagree. It has far too many boring songs like new millennium which just drags on for far too long. Train of Thought, Octavarium and Black Clouds are better albums than FII
|

octavarium really isn't very good

apart from t/t of course

FII has a few great tracks, but unfortunately also a number of boring songs, yes. It's not a bad album, but I believe it could have been a lot better under different circumstances.

Well I agree on that it's something different at least and its sure as hell better than the self
titled. Worst album before SC though ignoring WDADU

What Nag said for sure. It is a shame Sherinian had to leave the band with the only DT LP he played on being mediocre by their standards. I do really like the two 10+ minute epic tracks though. They both show Petrucci's versatility.
