Dude I can't even get my brother into Meshuggah but he's so obsessed with Slaughter to Prevail that he got his son into them

Do you know how painful that is for me?

Lots of metalheads hated on Nu metal when it took over. They had no idea how good they had it compared to the deathcore phase lol

Some deathcore is decent I think, depends how it's utilized, a lot of bands like to go for similar crappy tropes and gimmicks. Fit for an Autopsy and Shadow of Intent have some really cool stuff

I like core as well, but it was more the point that I can't get him into literally any death metal (outside of Opeth, and theyre not straight dm) and some other more intense music (or even things like Agalloch because he finds it too boring) but then he'll randomly obsess over something like Trivium, Slaughter to Prevail, Chevelle, etc

But still, man is in his 40s and he got me and all of my friends into metal in the first place so I guess I can't complain too much

Me neither. I tried a bunch of times. Marrow is my fave from them.

I like some deathcore too but I just think overall Nu Metal actually turned out to be the superior genre in the long run.

Times were simpler when this dropped.

Who the hell is demolition hammer?

Also agreed about nu-metal being better overall. Everyone had their own sound for the most part (well at least all of the popular ones) while deathcore is very samey

As for agalloch, to each his own. Honestly they were one of my favorite bands back in my early 20s, but now that I’m in a different stage in life I prob wouldn’t really fuck with them if I heard them for the first time now - but since I’m already familiar with their work, they’re still one of my faves
