i don't think any of us old timers (myself, Fernando, Muzz, zak, and a handful of others) really listen to this band much anymore - at least i don't.......but there was no denying if you were between the ages of 13 and lets say 28 in the early to mid 90's, you probably loved this band......and yes, they were at the top of the genre, even if only for a short period of time
i totally get the later generations not digging this

i liked it when i didn't know any better and just ate up whatever schlock my dad listened to. but as time went on, my annoyance with its role in the genre's zeitgeist turned into genuine hatred for most of the album, and ended up bleeding into all their other stuff.
i'm not forgiving it for almost certainly being an indirect reason my favorites ended up having truckloads of homophobia thrown their way, and by extension, me for liking them.

i saw Superjoint Ritual at CBGB's and he forgot half the words to half of the songs......announced that the next song was a song they already played......and fell off the stage where the fans had to help him back up
epic memory honestly!

I've only seen Phil live once at a festival, maybe Reading festival, and that was with Down - he just seemed totally baked, I can't remember if he sat down to sing a couple of songs.
It wasn't the best, the original Pantera are in my top 10 of 'ones that got away' with Nirvana, original Alice In Chains, original Kyuss, Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead - bands I can't believe I failed to catch live. Ah well, caught most of who I wanted to see at least.

I'm surprised Smok isn't taking umbrage with my perspective. But maybe because we share a common dislike its okay.

My mum likes this band despite the ‘masculinities’ because I don’t think she understands the impact they had and what they now represent
I hate them because I do
Also, based Smok moment

@Titan: what I do know is that I love me some CfH. Hard as fuck riffs.

Nah we went to every show that came through…..I’ve been to 1000 shows both big and real small so the hype was never a driving factor.
Haha, I grew up? I grew tired of the sound, as I did with many other bands after listening to them for 30+ years.
You’re an exhausting user on here man! Investigating our shoutboxes? You that insecure? You remind me of Skele, only difference is, he had better taste than you and that’s just a fact. You’re still calling people poseurs haha. Haven’t heard that term much since ‘97. Reality is, you’re the biggest poseur on here.
Take a break bruh.
