Opeth took my virginity with this one. But after many years of wonderful romance, they have become drunk and lazy.
Worst of all, their new crappy friends insist we stay together.

I started with MAYH when I was 14 and was very confused, listened to this and it all clicked, went back to MAYH shortly after and absolutely loved it.

started with orchid. only album i had trouble getting into was blackwater park, besides damnation & deliverance which i just don't love.

MAYH probably isn't the best starting point yea
Best to either go chronologically or start with BWP

Prior to hearing MAYH the only metal I was jamming was Metallica, In Flames, Soilwork and ATG, so it was a definite change of pace.
As a long time Opeth fan, Deliverance was one of the biggest letdowns of my life when it came out. Still don't ever spin it.
