Damar has apparently been awake and able to respond to commands. Early reports say he doesn't appear to have sustained neurological damage.



He's still listed as critical, but this is perhaps the best possible situation to be in given his condition and what happened.

Update:



Damar is awake and has been talking via written notes--which means his motor functions are still there. His first question was over who won the game, and then he expressed gratitude over the support that has been shown. Incredibly, it seems like he is 100% still himself.



The recovery continues (as aforementioned in my last comment, he is still considered critical), so temper expectations accordingly, but the Bills medical staff and the UC staff are doing an amazing job.

For those unaware: not only is Damar awake, but he is also able to breathe on his own and talk. His recovery has been absolutely incredible.



@vult he will not, he is fumble-prone and beat up this year, which could be said about everyone on offense tbh. Be careful though, because unlike Malik, Josh Dobbs has discovered the forward pass.

I'm usually very skeptical of backups until a good few games into their starting career. Once tape is out and defenses begin to exploit/try to exploit them, then you start to see if they're for real or not.



Time will tell if Dobbs can survive that shift, although I doubt he will have the opportunity to next season. Although, now that I say that, I'm unsure of what the hell our QB situation will look like...

Dobbs looked good, but the Jags defense adjusted very well in the second half and exposed his flaws. We were unable to (or just too plain scared) to throw deep and the line was, predictably, awful. No passing game can survive out of that.

AFAIK it seems he was harmless, but his sign was getting picked up by the broadcast frequently. Might be more to the story of course, so probably have to wait on that. Seems likely that Davis didn't want that image on TV, in which case, well dude, maybe don't move the team from its home base to a tourist trap and hire a control freak asshole.
