'that album is old as fuck what are you on about'

I mean it took time for me to appreciate it as much as I do now, other deftones albums were way more immediate

In my eyes their top 3 (Diamond Eyes, White Pony, SNW) will always stand head and shoulders above everything else. This and Koi are right below those 3 and I can't decide whether I like this or Koi more

page 46 Detlaff "people have been saying that every time they release an album it's praised as their best"

I never have done that except KNY and I really don't think that was ever a trend.

The fact that they managed to bounce back with this beast of a record after Gore is outstanding.

Pompeji, This Link is Dead and Radiant City are among the best songs they've ever written, holy shit.

I think we all collectively saw Gore as the end of Deftones... little did we know the magic that was forthcoming. I don't think anyone saw this coming after Gore. Gore had some horrendous mixing. I don't really care to listen to it again outside of like 3 songs (Prayer/Triangles, Hearts/Wires, and Phantom Bride). The rest is a sludgy mess

After 3 listens of this I'd go

DE > WP > SNW > KNY > Ohms > ATF > Adrenaline > ST > Gore

page 49 Valkoor "Oh and my first listen was right after I stayed up late waiting for the leak, so I listened to it in my bed, in the dark, and was completely floored. I knew this was gonna be big."

Just take out leak and replace with release and I this was me!

This album makes me detest Gore honestly (and I feel like I stood up for it more than most through the years)

Like how tf did they end up making that when they coulda made this?
