The most calming record I’ve ever heard.
EDIT: I remember when I laughed at Mikael from Opeth when he said he liked her music and called it art.
Haha.
Whoops.

how can someone listen to the new song and not think this artist is a cut above :/ pop ballads are hard to pull off but this one is really well written. finneas and billie are beyond jack antonoff and his ilk as songwriters. she doesnt miss, and has a really cool ambient pop thing going with these two singles
it's a bit "familiar" songwriting wise and the production in the second half is a bit funny but it's still an easy 8/10

I think the only potential factor bringing this down is that Billie Eilish doesn't do much differentiation in the vocals department which is unfortunate because she really does have a pretty potent voice, but I also think everything strikes a nice balance between individuality and ease of access. Independent enough to sound herself but not so out of field as to be jarring. Also just realized you're talking about a new Billie Eilish song and not this album so uhhh my bad

well the new singles basically have her doing the same thing vocally but EGG on sputnik's FACE for not even commenting upon it (in the face of the commentary on something like taylor swift I guess) because I've already listened to "my future" like ten times and I'm on vacay from work starting sunday til next sunday so I think I will be chillin with "my future" for a while and this is a good artist........

Yeah My Future whips man
Curious, is there any other pop in this vein? A little dark and somber but still kind of fun? This kind makes me wanna venture into the genre at least a bit yanno

It’s not as dark and somber, but Lorde also does this type of minimalist alt-pop quite well.

Often pretentious and seldom genuine, Billie Eilish's first full-length album presented a brand new sound in mainstream pop. Despite having its memorable moments, most of the entirely-whispered record might give the listener a hard time staying awake, especially in its final tracks.

imho: half great songs (bad guy, xanny, wish you were gay, when the party's over, 8, bury a friend, ilomilo, goodbye) and the other half is good songs with some problems at varying levels of significance. the only songs that are surely in the second half, or maybe in a third, worse category are "you should see me in a crown" and "all the good girls go to hell". but otherwise oof man great alb. finneas and billie all the way for sure

I feel like if I had any interest in being a pop producer I’d wanna go similar to the route he goes on this. he does a lot with a little

She's alright but the girl looks like she's been dosing xanax for half her life, which is worrisome. Maybe she just never sleeps.
