Please tell me I'm not the only one who can hear Black Parade influence on closer

hmmm I'll have to listen again but the opener of I See You reminds me of Vampire Weekend. definitely a lot more going on musically on this album

I wish there were songs in the vein of Kyoto, the slower songs aren't nearly as strong as the ones on Stranger

Said this in my soundoff but I find her lyrics on the new one and the way she delivers them really interesting, and the songwriting as a whole is solid but I still found it very homogenous, like the main melody for each track could have been used as a bridge or something on the previous track, with some exceptions. Wish it was a bit more interesting but still a good album no doubt.

oh my gosh the closer rules, might be the best song she's ever been a part of

the rest of the new one didn't grab me as immediately as Stranger but I suspect it's gonna grow on me

ok I know im always coming with The Irrelevance but this lady used to be in a four-piece band called Sloppy Jane led (and still led) by this lady Haley Dahl and sloppy jane were terrible back then but now they're like a ten piece band and when live shows come back one of you has to see sloppy jane live. they played a random show one tuesday night and it was probably just another show for them but I think it was maybe the best concert i've ever seen and I didn't even have a drink or anything that night because I had fifteen dollars in my bank account and ten went toward the show and 2.75 went toward getting home and 2.75 isnt enough for a drink at a new york venue. thats my sloppy jane pitch thank me in like ten years when concerts come back ok get back to discussing the new album i'll listen to it soon and say my piece thanks everyone

Closer on the new one may be the best song she's written but THEN Scott Street exists so let's not be jumping the gun here. After multiple listens I'm finding the new one to be a step down from this. To my dismay, I think I find myself agreeing with Rowan and Johnny.

You got home from a concert for $2.75?

Also the best song she’s been a part of is The Night We Met by Lord Huron. Only because Lord Huron is such an awesome and underrated band

yah the concert was in manhattan and i was living in brooklyn, 2.75 is tha subway fare (normally i'd have a monthly pass but I think i was too broke to buy one). not to the suburbs from a city in a car or anything like that

is the new one kinda like this where there's a couple songs like motion sickness or kyoto and then the majority of the album is more singer/ songwriter?

i second the sloppy jane recommendation, super creative and neat band. their album Willow was probably one of my favorite hidden gems of 2018.
