Sacramentum's Far Away from the Sun is very nice, but there is absolutely no bass on that album

I am really not into meloblack, as a genre it has too much overpolished, boring as fuck, easy listening and over simplistic stuff (commercial pop with distorted guitars and screams)...



That said this is the GOAT and two albums that I really enjoy and aren't too far away from this are:

Naglfar - Diabolical

nope, not at all, this is the GOAT. Exceptional band, exceptional album. Jon Nödtveidt was a musical genius and Ole Öhmann is one of my favorite drummers of all time due to his tasteful and very creative take on blasting and crushing it.





BUT the likes of Dimmu Borgir et al. who are considered pioneers and titans of the genre are boring as fuck.

Meloblack era Dimmu is neat, much better than their later stuff. I used to think the same until I heard stuff like Stormblast and I was impressed at how good it actually was.
