Ugh whoever mastered this needs to be fired into space immediately. Halloween is so thin and sterile.

Honestly, this might be one of my favorite Mastodon albums if not for the sound.

"On top of that the production, courtesy of Nick Raskulinecz, expertly balances the punch with clarity" I feel like we were listening to two different albums. The instruments may be clear, but on a metal album "punch" is more important and this has practically none.

Raskulinecz has some nicely produced albums under his belt, though.

He does, but this isn't one of them. The same story happened to Karnivool's last record.

Completely agree with Underflow. The production on this (and Karnivool's last album) suck hard. Just doesn't go with what they were trying to do. Although, Karnivool's last album had far worse production than this.

This could do with a fan remaster or something, if that's even after the levels of compression the master tapes must've gone through. Like the fan remaster of Californicarion.

Nomos if you're talking about White Walker, that came out months ago, like mid last year
