agreed with you guys, Meridonial is indeed the best

Meridional is an odd pick tbh, it's their second worst for me. Of course I still love it but I think Anti Mother is the only one it beats

it's really a toss up between all of them. Play Bayonetwork and I'll say nothing else they did is relevant as that song.

bayonetwork is neither the worst song on o god nor the most relevant thing they've made. carry on
|

I like Bayonetwork but I gotta agree with Relinquished. O' God may be my fave Norma Jean tho

let's be real, most "relevant" thing they ever made was Memphis. and Bayonetwork is one of the more formulaic and least interesting songs on the record, it sounds cool but literally all the other songs have better riffs.

I was embellishing for the kid in me. He has no regrets. O' God the Aftermath was a pretty big deal overall compared to any song off of it. I always thought on paper the most interesting thing they did was work with Chino Moreno, but we all know that album is unfortunately one of the weaker ones they've done. Still good shit though.

the kid in me still loves Bless and Aftermath, those vocal performances are relentless. good memories when I saw them with Underoath and Maylene & Sons of Disaster. I thought they "redeemed" themselves here though, it brought back the consistency they were missing.

tbh the only "slump" I think the band has had was Anti Mother and Meridional, only because of how disjointed those albums were. I pretty much enjoy all of the tracks from them. Wrongdoers definitely fixed that and I think Polar Similar even does it a little better.

"Memphis" is easily one of their best songs, and Aaron Weiss' part at the end is one of my favorite moments in music ever, but my favorite song by them is still "Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What..." It's just under 16 minutes, sure, but it never drags or gets boring, and its atmosphere is just stellar. I definitely think it's one of the band's crowning achievements.
I really wish they kept the sound clip from the film "Pi" on the actual record, rather than just have it be on the limited edition release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNtGR6HD6PE (about 10 minute mark).

wow... I thought I was one of very few who felt that way about Pretty Soon
|

Yea that track rules! Wish I could have seen it live.
Never heard the limited edition version, wasn't even sure if it really existed or not tbh...kind of weird, discogs says it has an extra untitled instrumental track and several of the songs have extended intros/outros. I've never heard of anyone owning it.

Something about Pretty Soon always just clicked with me, especially recently when I would listen to it often while walking through town and/or campus when I was at school. Listening to it just always puts me at ease.
I've also never heard the full limited edition version of the album, just this one song.
