Plus if the dude never wanted to write any metal again he wrote THIS which is fking timeless and left a mark the majority of that same scene could only dream of...

I'm by no means condemning the man if he wants to return to metal or not, I just wonder if his heart would truly be in it if he did right now.

JK seems like the kind of guy to do whatever the fuck he wants with his music, so good on him and I'm 100% all for evolution in sound. I just don't want to think it will top this cos tbh, I don't think any future AOP should be compared to this. It will sound nothing like this and who knows what ideas he's got in his head right now

It's ok to dip in and out of metal, like when I think of AOP, I don't immediately think it's a BM band. I don't even consider TGAI to be a BM album, just a metal album with black metal, industrial, shoegaze, noise rock, and post rock influences. James Kelly could even pull a Radiohead Kid A on us on the next album and I wouldn't care.

Gotta try this again. I didn't see anything special in it a few years ago, but I was also an absolute idiot about a lot of things back then.

@aberf Der weg Einer Freiheit's Finisterre is fucking fantastic. A little less 'post' debatably but I'm in awe of its dynamism

I looovvveed this record. May even 5 it eventually. Was jamming it a bit during the summer. Never heard of Der Weg Einer Freheit, so I'm definitely looking at them.
