There is plenty of catchy death metal and this is certainly at the top. The chorus of Misanthrope and the riff to the verse me and Sonoma quoted above were probably stuck in my head for years upon first hearing.

This is actually my least favorite of Death's final four. It just lacks the mindboggling complexity of TSOP nor the fucking raw heaviness of Human or ITP. 4/4 is used a lot here, which isn't bad, but TSOP used 4/4 very sparingly and instead used WTF sigs like 10/4, 7/6, 6.5/8, 9/8, 7/8 I mean shit. Symbolic doesn't get much more complex than Perennial Quest.
