This band are hugely overrated by too many people but this was an interesting and varied album that I really enjoyed. Metalcore has always been among my favorite genres,, even though i primarily listen to black metal, I quite like a few metalcore bands a lot and this album was always one of my favorites.

A 4 is about right for this to be honest. It's not close to being perfect but the riffs are interesting and the vocals are alright. The drums are obviously cool, as with all The Rev's work

It is so interesting how this album totally laid out the future of the band. Take away the screaming
and darker riffs and you hear a lot of City of Evil, and City of Evil guaranteed the band was heading
towards the more popular side of metal. The problem for me is that the songwriting in City of Evil is
generic compared to the songwriting in this album. Correct me if I am wrong, but this sounds like
progressive metalcore while the later albums sound like straight metal.
