That is one hell of an awful comparison. It's like saying two cars that came out the same year covered by the same magazine are the same category even if one of them is an ATV and the other one a coupe.

If a lot of people namedrop two bands in the same content it's probably for the simple reason that they hear similarities in how both bands sound and hence find the two valid for comparison. Imo that's reason enough to compare and contrast.
