'Agreed, it's one of the most sincere and clever songs about spirituality I've heard in a while.'

For sure. It's near impossible to approach religion well but Jesse absolutely nails it in a way everyone can relate to I think.

The first time I heard Jesus was when they played it on Letterman, and I remember thinking it sounded a lot like Modest Mouse, namely the guitar part Jesse plays on "I will die all alone," etc., but I can't really hear it anymore. It just sounds like Brand New to me.

Yeah that one always sounded to me kinda like it was done on the road with just one instrument mic

and a laptop or something. Really gorgeous song. That droning noise that plays over the left

speaker hits me every time, not even sure what it is

Edit: untitled, that is.

Yeah they definitely started to sound more like Modest Mouse after Deja, especially in the verses on At the Bottom from Daisy.

Yeah, I hope they don't change too much if they make an album in the future.

Comparisons to MM are funnily enough sacrilegious.

"My bright is too slight to hold back all my dark"

lol.

I'm sure Modest Mouse has never had any clunkers

But anyway that's a good lyric brah

bright slight

No sight in my plight, my biggest fight writing lyrics that don't seem trite.

I hope one day people might wake up and see the light,

I was gonna refute that by dropping a shitty Modest Mouse lyric, but I can't actually think of any. You win again, Isaac Brock.

Yeah instrumentally for sure

Glad it's growing on you, it's certainly one of the best albums of the 2000s

Me too, and I love the loss of innocence theme
