"I've never understood the criticism on the production here. Gives the album its amazing atmosphere."
It's the kind of production that sounds great on basic audio gear and horrendous on hi-end audiophile gear. The drum clipping is the worst I've ever heard on an important record. Also, the dynamic range is rather bad (min values should be at least 8)- https://dr.loudness-war.info/?artist=tool&album=fear+inoculum

Not anymore, I'm chill now. If people enjoy trash headphones like the Sennheiser HD6XX and AudioTechnica ATH-M50X, then so be it. I've sold my Stax electrostatic headphones and now use much cheaper pairs (all under 800$). I'm thinking in upgrading my bookshelf speakers into some quality hi-fi speakers like SVS Ultra Towers buuut it's such a nerdy hobby and I also live in rent and don't want to carry them around with me once I move out of here.
@benkim: Get the TinHifi T3 Plus, for 60-70 bucks you get a monster audio device with near-perfect tuning that is also portable and extremely easy to drive from any smartphone.

I just got a nice headphone amp and some sennheiser hd650s and shit sounds very nice on them. They sound like a mini version of the orpheus

Sell both that amp and your headphones and buy the Moondrop Variations for around 500$. It will sonically destroy your HD650.
