When a band makes a new album, the idea is to tour it. When the band goes on tour, it kicks the dirt off of all of their older records (I'm 100% guilty of this - been binging their discography in the wake of the concert I'll be attending soon). The black album was just named the best selling album over the last 35 years (during the 72 Seasons World Tour) and it's not by coincidence. For bands like Metallica and AC/DC, there's a cascading effect that surrounds a new album even if it's not that great.

This is a worthy album as well in my opinion.

^ Yeah, exactly that.

Also, amongst the mid, I've seen online (alas, I haven't seen this band live in person for close to two decades), stuff like "Inamorata" played in concert looked and sounded majestic.

And I reckon it's great that they can still come up with stuff that can work so well in a setlist.

from this album they played lux aeterna and darkness had a son back to back last night. think both sounded good and went over pretty well but could def tell a lot of people had those songs earmarked for their bathroom break

was really special seeing orion, vibes were off the charts for that one

"Interesting, i was gonna ask if they played any deep cuts. I’d take “leper messiah” as the sole deep cut ngl. I saw them in dallas back in 2022 and the deepest cut they played was “whiskey in the jar” lol"

yeah as much as i would've loved to hit a no repeat weekend i was totally happy to see them grind through the hits. feel like crowd participation is everything at these big stadium shows. was head over heels to see leper tho that's honestly a top 10 80s track imo

Disc 2 wasn't awful, it was just middling.

i like how they did a Motörhead tribute song and proceeded to make it one of the clunkiest, least Motörhead-like songs they’ve ever done

If Darkness Had A Son, Too Far Gone?, and Lux AEterna are definitely my top 3 on here

Too far gone, crown of barbed wire, and inamorata are the ones i revisit the most on here. Sleepwalk is also really underrated, dont get the hate at all

Would have been a very strong E.P. here... or at least, a circa 40 minute album if they couldn't sacrifice song lengths on the better songs.
