Outro of Elephant is the best part of the song though. “I feel it stealing now” is such an eerie and mournful line and Aaron delivers it perfectly

Absolutely agreed there

They need to reintroduce Nine Stories into their set. The lyrics on that song are on another level entirely imo. Love the way his voice walks up and down half steps over the lines between the walrus and owl to elevate the feeling of a back and forth between them. Just so good.
“What from the air calls to water on the land? what from my seclusion does this charlatan demand? what to do now with my best-laid eremetic plans?”

They've been playing Bear's Vision of St. Agnes about every two sets so far this tour though. Gotta be excited about that.

The more I listen to Bethlehem the more I feel like it lyrically wraps up both works pretty well. With a smooth transition, I wouldn’t have minded it right after Michael.

I'm going to defend Fig every single time someone says it is bad. You can test it. Fig owns.

The lyrics alone are fantastic and the backing vocals (yeah, I fucking said it) and instrumental cacophony are a delight.

on a more serious note, someone a few pages back was talking about the cover of this album compared to the cover of ten stories and i really think they are on to something. here they are next to each other. the train lines up with this cover remarkably well.

Wow, I definitely see that. And the thin black lines could also be a reference to the style of Pale Horses. It might be a stretch, but maybe it's supposed to be a few of the albums crammed in to reflect that idea of mewithoutyou cutting loose and letting their sound from past records blend and explode on this one.

would it be blasphemous to say Wendy & Betsy has overtaken Julia as my #2 from this album? asking for a friend...
