They've released enough songs for one solid 12 track album that I'd 4.5 - none of their albums are realistically above a 3.5

Yeah, and I've noticed that same thing with him before with other bands. Like, he'll seem to think an album is marginally better/worse than a band's previous effort and then only rate it 1 number higher or lower
|
| |
so, if it's slightly better, it's slightly better?

fockin bludy slag mate

I think his assessment of this album is accurate, though. TPAB is a much better album, but this is not bad, it's just inconsistent and has some questionable moments.

You act like I am riled up. Another guy pointed out an inconsistency in how he rates albums sometimes and I agreed.

Zak - did you ever buy into the Eminem thing? Hand on heart, I did listen to him quite a lot for about six months back in 2001 sort of time

Course I did mate. His second album was great, but he was just such a massive bellend it all got instantly forgotten about.

i'm just takin the piss mate, and i don't understand the point in the first place since everyone consciously does that all the time because as subjective as music is, if there's four mentally stable blokes in a band, there's four mentally stable blokes in a band. There are always going to be bands with marginally better/worse albums in their discography left right and centre.
And besides there is just as much evidence to the contrary i.e Animal Collective, Radiohead, Travis Scott, Burial, PJ Harvey, Sun Kil Moon, Thundercat, just from the top of my head -- going from 9/10 to 3/10 is pretty much the opposite of "he'll seem to think an album is marginally better/worse than a band's previous effort and then only rate it 1 number higher or lower".
