Oh yeah, I remember Stephen saying that lol. Funny because H/W is one of the better songs on Gore IMO. Come to think of it, there's also "shove her over railing" on MX. I'll cut Chino some slack though because these were mostly lyrics written in his 20's. He doesn't seem to really write stuff like that anymore.

"
“ The slit in the sky when you left is all I see
Nothing to sing about, I've bared all my leaves…”
Definitely seems to be about chi to me"
Or it could be about a girl who's left him and now he wants to consume her so that he could be literally one with her forever. It wouldn't be the first song written on this topic either.
I just don't see what the metaphor about dining on someone's heart has to do with Chi, it'd be kinda fucked up to sing about that if it's about him.

Well H/W was like 6 years ago lol. But I ain't complaining, his lyrics always have some compelling psychodrama going on.

I always took the "dine on your heart" line not so literally but more as an emo type of line but that is another way to take it. From the Hearts/Wires Wikipedia:
Stephen Carpenter told Rolling Stone that he was initially taken aback by "Hearts / Wires" because it evoked images of murder, rape, insanity and the serial killer from The Silence of the Lambs. "That song made me think of Wild Bill the whole time – psycho killer and shit. I just didn't feel it," Carpenter said. "I had to embrace my inner psycho rapist and come up with the part and get into it."
So good news, guys, Chino isn't a cannibal, just a rapist serial killer!

"This song uses a fur coat as a metaphor for beauty and vanity. Fur coats are beautiful and soft on the outside, but when you come “around the fur” you find the dead and ugly skin. Chino is comparing people who are vain to a fur coat, saying they can be beautiful on the outside, but dead and ugly on the inside."
