I cried so hard to that song once when I came home drunk in like 7am and decided to listen to some more music before going to sleep. my sister had just woke up and witnessed that, she was really worried for me lol. an embarrassing experience in retrospect, but in that moment it was really cathartic. kinda caught me off guard too, I just started sobbing uncontrollably. I don't think that ever happened to me with any other song.

Honestly tell me how that chorus is any different to a run-of-the-mill Coldplay song? And I'm surprised you can sing those lyrics out loud without cringing

Nah it's not just that it's catchy (although it definitely is), but also there is just so much genuine emotion into that song and so much of this album that it really stands out imo. They have a pretty distinctive sound than Coldplay lol, hard to explain but Coldplay is just very obviously way cheesier and more simplistic. They wouldn't exactly have a McCready solo.



Also if we're just talking about Pearl Jam in general, they are just infinitely more talented musicians. Plus the fact that they have been putting their all into every performance for the past several decades changing up the set list every night, changing up the solos to each song every night is nothing to sneeze at. They're basically like a semi modern classic rock band.



And I actually like the lyrics to the rest of that song, dude. Great song storytelling.

it's a pretty dark song

I'm just talking about the chorus dude, that chorus could easily be on an Imagine Dragons single and everyone on here would call it the worst song of 2018. Tbh I'm struggling to think of many Coldplay choruses that could be classed as 'cheesier and more simplistic' than this. As I said I quite like the album/band in general.
