yeah but it’s like putting a band aid on a bullet wound
Idk there’s no reason I should like this band so much. They have so much in common with the dogshit 80’s hair metal bands I despise, but they’re just so much better.

Like what? To me the glam bands were effectively just rock and roll Pop. QR was American Maiden in the beginning and then immediately took their own lane.

nah, its superiority is overhyped imo. Other than the grand concept musically it's not that superior to RfO or PL I think.
(he says with it 5'd)

the riffs are similar to hair metal but hair metal was never bad because of the riffs it was because of how formulaic/cheesy/sleazy it was
this is like the best aspects of that but with good songwriting
|
| |
>the riffs are similar to hair metal
kinda the point, the boundaries between trad, glam and some 80s hard rock are a lot blurrier than tryhards would ever admit [:

yeh especially with this band i think some songs dabble in that but their other influences sorta render ryche more interesting in most cases
|
| |
for sure, but then again glam isnt intrinsically bad if it even exists in the first place
a lot of 80s priest songs are basically glam

''you've got those sunglasses on, you really turn me on'' - geoff tate, dedicate to chaos, queensryche album, 2011. same guy who wrote those lyric wrote the conceptual lyrics for this album. mind boggling.

"the riffs are similar to hair metal but hair metal was never bad because of the riffs it was because of how formulaic/cheesy/sleazy it was"
To be fair, a number of Queensryche albums are even considered partially glam metal on Wikipedia with cited sources (particularly Rage for Order and Empire). So others have certainly acknowledged it at this point. Still, those elements never affected my enjoyment of their work; the songwriting during this era was still top-notch stuff
