Friday I think you're right, no perfect method but I think the 60's and 70's albums get a slight 'rose tinted glasses' free pass sometimes based on two or three classic songs.

it's a killer riff, just totally abandoned the thrash here but I know they get a ton of shit for that anyways

doofus bro what the fuck is filler on zep 2? and even if some of those classic records have a weaker track or two theyre usually still great, same cant be said for this
the struggle within might actually be the lamest attempt at thrash since FFF

Kill check my rating I know this is no classic. Zep II - living loving maid, Moby dick (yeah I'm a philistine) and Bring it on home are all good but not stuff I'd have on heavy rotation. Leaves 5 admittedly great songs, and one nearly as good song in Thank You. I dunno, doesn't add up to a 5 for me but I get the love

Yeah, Struggle wouldn't make the cut if this was 8 or 9 songs long lol

damn dude were like objective and shit
i kinda feel like holier than thou is lame as fuck too but for some reason i dig the riff, like its a lamer version of cowboys from hell main riff but i still raise the horns

Album Rating: 3.5
Holier definitely gets the horns, it's not a top 5 tune on this album and it's no competition to Cowboys from Hell but it does the straightahead chug thing ok

Guess I like the mid 70's albums best for Sabbath and Zeppelin - sabbath bloody sabbath and physical graffiti/houses of the holy are the ones I just dig the most

aint all about consistency tho, paranoid and master have too many classics to beat
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
yeah pretty much except paranoid is super consistent
|
| |
Sabotage is like my second favourite Sabbath album these days (well at least my second most listened to) and I'll admit it's not really that consistent but the highs just blow me away.
