I just think they were way too into playing what was the popular metal of the time on here.
They made that on vol.3, the main issue with this album is that there is too much filler. People bitch too much about pop metal trends that aren't that important

That and they don't do anything new with their sound on this.
Never liked sulfur, idk

Vol. 3 is by far their best, mainstream songwriting mainly but done right, and there's enough weird songs like Opium to not be boring

Depending on your definition, yeah it's heavy, but it's heavy in a forced kind of way.

I like Iowa almost as much as Vol. 3 though.

Would have been better if they tried to do something more interesting with the songwriting

2 minutes in and it sucks. Like a heavier stone sour song and that chorus is so damn generic

New song is more like something of the Iowa, tbh was okay but the thing is that corey sounded less inspired and the drumming is less effective

gemtria is good though

New song is okay but nothing special. It's pretty average in the first half but it picks up in the latter.
