YEah, thats exactly what im saying. Peter took influences from metal, jazz blues, prog,...

The guy from Arch Enemy (keep forgetting his name) seems to be an all out metal guy and that doesnt suit Opeths style

I think Axe does a pretty good job replacing Martin though. Ghost Reveries is a stellar album in my opinion. My second or third favourite by themThis Message Edited On 05.12.09

So I listened to this again yesterday and completely fell in love with heir apparent.

And then it got to burden, and I got bored.

seriously, that song is a horrible blemish. Its too long and drags forever.

He was mentally unstable for the recording sessions of Ghost Reveries? He had to leave the band shortly after because his drumming simple wasn't up to standard.
he had anxiety attacks and diabetes I don't consider those mentally unstable conditions

I bought this and the new Disturbed on the same day (right around their release dates) and I decided to listen to them both again today and I still enjoy the new Distrubed much more than this. What happened to this band?

Edit: On the other hand, I'm finally ready to raise my rating to a 3.5

What's wrong with me? What's wrong with them? Listen to Morningrise, Still Life or Black Water Park and then listen to this. Even if it's not compared to older stuff this just isn't that interesting and more people would probably say so if it wasn't attached to the Opeth name.

Pretty much the only consistently good Opeth album I've heard and for that I hope the next one will rule just as much as Watershed.

IDK about that willie. This album continues to push Opeth's songwriting to different places and I think it makes for an enjoyable listen

BWP is wayyyyyy better than this.

I agree with Willie's rating but only have BWP to compare this to.
