I had this at five for the longest time, because there is a lot to love here, but I changed it recently because once truly understand what a good song sounds like you can easily see that most of these are not good songs. They are well-orchestrated at times, energetic at times, and all-around awesome at others, but this is definitely a kietsch-y album because it is filled with so much nonsense...

Nonsense that can be interpreted as sense...becauuuuse that's what ATD-I is all about. I've listened to everything they offer. This is it. All-inclusive, brutha.

"By the time 1:55 of Cosmonaut nears fruition, I proceed to meld with my spiritual counterpart, begin flailing my body around in a manner only Thom Yorke could understand and lose all sense of hate...It's a nice experience. "
Finally someone who loves that song on a level as deep and unforgiving as me

I LOVE the electric piano on this album. Wow.
I like the way this band used chord progressions on this album.
The bass playing is always desirable, never intrusive or unfulfilling.
Also, Quarantined is probably the spookiest thing ever.
Danny Boyle wrote 28 days later with Godspeed You! Black Emperor in mind; I would like to see the movie that he writes if he ever listened to Quarantined. That song man, let me tell you!

I've listened to pretty much all At the Drive-In. There are always a couple songs on their albums that really stand out, and those are the ones that stand the test of time for me. The rest is meh, but there again that's typical for most outfits that try to be creative, and not formulaic, with their music.

No, they're definitely one of the best post-hardcore bands of all time. All-time, no doubt in my mind...

Does anyone know how to conjugate the verb "to bump"? Is it "classic"?

"but they're so visceral and genuine and human"
To back up a little, I think that you probably think that because of how well the rest of the album sounds. The music here is really good, very polished. We shouldn't be surprised that this duo went on to do great things with another band.
