“Lump Sun,”

You mean lump sum?

Skinny love rules, by the way.

If Justin Vernon sounds lonely & secluded on 'For Emma, Forever Ago', it's because he recorded his debut LP - under the Bon Iver pseudonym - during winter at an isolated Wisconsin cabin. A genuinely personal & emotional album, this is 37 minutes of simple, stripped down acoustic folk, with Vernon's fragile falsetto often layered to effectively project isolation. Apart from simplicity resulting in a lack of variety, the lo-fi recording is both a strength & weakness, often muffling the raw & real sounds. At the least, this is a promising debut... At it's best, it is an affecting triumph. Recommended Tracks: Skinny Love, Flume, Lump Sum & For Emma.

I heard in an interview somewhere that Justin never really understands what the song means to him unless he is in the motion of playing them and then he feel the real conviction, which I think is fantastic and exactly the way I view the album.

Also Davey, what did you think of his newer release?

Still gathering my thoughts on the newie, but I prefer it slightly to this... Probably still a 4 though. Needs a few more listens in different settings.

I wasn't sure about the new one at first but it's grown on me like crazy recently. Nowhere nearas good as this imo but in my top 5

I find the new album so full, where this is all bare. I like the contridiction, as in it's trying to fufill the sadness of For Emma with the mellow of Bon Iver Bon Iver, so for that reason I love them both equally to bits.
