@talons i bet in a few months time you'll look at PC like how you look at the DT s/t now, considering that review you did for it ;)

i was pretty annoyed that this softer side of opeth has a lack of acoustic guitar, which was always a huge strength of their in my opinion

Yeah I agree, this one was still metal for the most part, if we look at it now it was definitely a progressive transition (no pun intended here)

I don't mind them scrapping the metal but I was really hoping for some prominent folk sounds, like in Storm Corrosion but now it's literally all old school prog. There isn't anything wrong with that but I personally preferred the genre blending

I wish they'd go back to metal, even without the death vocals. The contrasts between light/heavy were really interesting here, and I definitely think their sound is worse off without them. A whole 'peth album of Harlequin Forests with more acoustic would be amazing.

They needed a whole album full of Hex Omegas. Ok, maybe not a whole album but an album in that vein

Harlequin Forest is my jam. Ghost of Perdition is the best on here though

Both are best even if Harlequin Forest drags in the last couple minutes

Oh come on guys, Harlequin Forest does drag during the last third or so and just doesn't follow up to the amazing first part

The first 8 minutes is godly though and the last third isn't THAT much worse

I know, but it does tarnish the song as a whole, which stops it from ever being my all time favourite. GOP all the way from this
