"This is better than 90% of other nu metal so it's alright"
That isn't saying much

only better "nu metal" albums would be like Around the Fur, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Toxicity and maybe L.D. 50

Dude, self titled of korn, some albums made by nottingface and nonpoint, animosity, the deadlights, get some, and the self titled album of slipknot are legit too. Like it or not those albums have a lot of pros

Nonpoint lol you're joking right?
Self titled Korn + Slipknot is alright, but not better than this.
|
| |
Sure, not better but they are still solid, the korn self titled effort is really great and it deosn't
have filler, and in the first album of slipknot there is only one weak song which is tangled up, and
statement ,recoil and to the pain are great albums made by nonpoint. People need to learn that there
is more nu metal than papa roach, trapt, crazytown and limp bizkit

Hybrid Theory is better than most nu metal.
some others may be good, just not as better.
|
| |
Yeah sure, in fact, Hybrid theory, toxicity, white pony and the self titled of korn are legends . Like it or not

White Pony isn't nu-metal aside from Back to School (which wasn't even their fault). Pretty much Dtones nu-metal is limited to Adrenaline and ATF both great records

and I really don't like calling SoaD nu-metal but uggh
|
| |
Face it green, deftones and soad had nu metal elements that were visible, sure, they tried to be
involved more in the alt metal wave but they still had noticeable elements of their contemporaries.

SoaD had crazy bass on their s/t, some on Tox.
Both bands evolved out of the nu metal shell though
|
| |
Evolved but still had elements of that era, they were still nu metal in the early 00's, the riffs
were more complex but were very similar to the ones used by other bands, they used 7 strings and
ibanez guitars like msot of the nu metal bands and they insist to don't make solos, and you have to
consider the vocal work ( clean and harsh) which is not very different from bands like korn or
slipknot, face it folks, liking some nu metal is not a bad thing , despite of the crap like
crazytown, kittie and more the genre still has some good acts. Besides, most of the
nu metal bands had a very good bass and drums works, ryan martine, fiedly and more were acclaimed by
rock cricles despite of making tunes of a genre pawned by critics , guitar work was the weakest
point
of the nu metal era.
|
| |
Besides you can see the downtuned guitar in white pony and toxicity, were more complex than most of the guitar work in an album like infest or follow the leader but still. Besides songs like change, toxicty, chop suey, digital bath follow the typical nu metal styled verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus ( of course there were exceptions like passenger or forest )

Mudvayne was never Nu metal imo. I mean they were giving every band the NU tag during that era -- they even tried lumping fucking Tool with it at one point! It's just critics trying to catagorize a band. SOAD never really had the elements either imo.

cant we just agree that this album was aight and forget nu metal was a thing
|
| |
Nope Spaz, I'm a really stubborn human being. Mudvayne has always been a great nu metal band, and
just because the band is more innovative than almost any other nu band, the songs more thought-out,
and I even dare to say that the music is slightly proggy, doesn't mean the band isn't nu metal; it
just means that they are not sticking to the confines and are pushing both their own and genre
limits. All the typical nu metal traits are there too ( the downtuned guitars, the the typical nu
metal styled verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus and the bass ) , Mudvayne just makes its sound
a lot more interesting than 99% of other nu bands do but saying that they weren't nu metal is kinda
silly, dig and nothing to gein are nu metal and you can't deny it, more than deftones and soad which
still in the early 00's were nu metal. Sure, they even try to classify alt metal bands like tool or
helmet in the nu metal but bands like mudwayne, deftones and soad were/ are nu metal because they
have a lot of the elements in their guitar work, the bass style and most of the songs had the
structure used in other nu metal albums like sinner or get sone, sure they are more interesting and
complex than the standard nu metal band, still they fall in the same genre. I consider that most of
the nu metal bands in the mid 00's moved to other genres ( alt metal, alt rock, mainstream rock,
nawohm) and the 3 bands were not the exception, but in the early 00's they were still part of the
genre.

"cant we just agree that this album was aight and forget nu metal was a thing"
No because L.D. 50 existed and it ultimately increased Metal's fanbase one way or another (with me being one of those said people).
|
| |
Most of the nu metal stuff was an introduction for rock and metal, if it werent the nu metal
most of those kids of my generation would have find more difficult to get into heavier and better
stuff, don't deny it folks; most of you had a nu metal phase.
