listening to this after so long. the album helped me a lot during some rough times in hs (actually looking back they weren't so bad lol, I was just a stupid kid), but that 5-minute passage starting at 9:40 in Black Rose brings back the feels, oh man. ready to get crushed by To Bid You Farewell now.

I'm pretty sure Opeth had more feels than any previous DM band. An overlooked aspect.

Luckily I wasn't listening to Opeth much back in my drama filled younger days.

Man, couldn't get into this for years, and I'm a pretty big Opeth fan. Now I think this could be their best record ever. Dat bass

Blackwater Park is pretty emotionally sterile compared to this. It's still an excellent record with unbelievable songwriting and production, but their first three albums are way more atmospheric and powerful.
