Why are the lyrics to Open Car horrid?

Idk they’re just.....creepy lol. Not in a good way. Guess it’s like that a lot on this album but that one stands out to me for some reason.

Ha, funny you should say that. Before I learned the lyrics of Blackest Eyes I thought it was a love song, and then I discovered it was about a serial killer.
With Open Car, I first thought it was something creepy, and then discovered it was about a person dealing with a crumbling marriage and extramarital affair, and it's actually quite good at it.

As much as I have recently fallen in love with Anathema and dig Wilson to the point where Raven is an all time five plus Lightbulb Sun and other PT material is near classic this album to me is still borderline dross.

Shallow, Lazarus and Arriving Somewhere are all in my top 5 favourite Steven Wilson songs, so I really can't see where you're coming from on this.

It’s just really disconnected, it might as well be played by Richard Wilson

T/t, Arriving, Mellotron, Something Beautiful, Glass Arm... this one's full of Wilson classics. Lazarus is gorgeous too. I like how varied this one is but the shortest songs are definitely my least favs.

I think the t/t is the worst on here. The record starts after that one

Did you listen to this incomprehensible mess called Lazarus? A 1 is more than justified

Lazarus is gorgeous though. I don't like the title track very much tbh

Still think this one is a bit turd.

It’s more alt metal than most of their discography, so that’s understandable.

It was actually my first foray into the whole PT/Wilson thing quite a few years back 2008ish maybe. Can’t remember how it came about but I definitely preferred it back then than I do now.

In Absentia is similar too, alt metal with prog tendencies and a couple of ballads thrown in there.
