Whole album is great pop songs. I think the nature of Rivers lyrics come off very sincere on this album too, while his new lyricism seems forced and overly sweet to the point of parody. He really hit a sweet spot here, I know im not saying anything revolutionary here but I think lyrically Rivers fell off HARD after Pinkerton. I talked about this on the Pinkerton thread before but depsite people mocking the lyrics on that album, their introspective and unapologetic nature make them work on that album despite cringey lines on songs like Pink Triangle.

pinkerton aint bad, it's just the def of TMI. i get how the overtly confessional aspect of the lyrics can be appealing, but there's parts wheres its like "damn rivers, i didnt need to hear you pretend to fuck a gir"

Funny, Only in Dreams is coo but after listening to like the first minute or so of it yesterday, I woke up with it in my head. It's quite similar to Undone, which soon overtook Only in Dreams in my head. As such I went to listen to Undone just now and now I've decided it's my favorite Weezer track

Around the time this album was released, I saw Weezer play a small bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was a great, intimate show. I really loved the band at the time. After the show, I checked out the merch table. They had t-shirts with a small Weezer logo on the upper-left front side of the shirt. I asked the guys manning the table what I thought was a reasonable question, particularly given the exorbitant price of the shirts: "Is there anything on the back?" And they proceeded to ridicule me mercilessly. "Like what a giant skull?" "Or, or, a naked chick riding huge boner?" And they continued on like that between each other, laughing uproariously, even as I wandered away. That experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
