I really like that song, but I get it. Hole in the Sky, Symptom, and Megalomania are the top shelf Sabbath tracks here
This might be my fave Sabbath actually. I know it's been said a bunch, but Ozzy kills it here

that song is just so fucking repetitive man lol. the writ is also top tier sabbath. and yeah this is the best ozzy vocal performance by a fair amount.

Vol. 4 is definitely fantastic, it's a tell that Iommi even when reportedly uninspired can still lap many other songwriters on their best day, I just felt it was a bit behind all the other prime 6 Ozzy albums

Vol. 4 is the weakest of their first six albums imo but it's still quite good.

i'm going through the last 2 ozzy albums before 13 and wow the dropoff is crazy. still listenable but this whips both those albums asses. i hope i like heaven & hell more whenever i get around to it but I've always been iffy on Dio for a strange reason so who knowz

never say die is kinda underrated, it's way better than technical ecstasy. junior's eyes, t/t, air dance and johnny blade all kind of rule. rest is whatever though.

I think both kinda occupy around the same level of "listenable, but not overly memorable" sabbath. not much to write home about but i'm not gonna be remembering most of these hooks very well like I would an Iron Man or Changes lol
hard to really complain too much when it's this group of talented musicians and I'll always love hearing the sound of the Prince of Darkness even if it's kind of a weaker project, but i think I'd just sooner turn on Paranoid or SBS in a more casual setting

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath honestly might be my second fav Ozzy behind Master of Reality.
Hot take tho, s/t is the worst of that debut-sabotage run, then prob vol 4

s/t is easily my least of the first 6. i do not like the bluesy songs, the wizard doesn't do it for me. some obvious all timers though in t/t and nib. still a really great album.

i kind of went into this first-6 run hoping to say S/T is the best because it's not the "easy" choice of just saying Paranoid, but i ended up saying Paranoid anyway. oh well, classic's a classic and it's undeniable even if it isn't the most interesting take

bold strategy cotton let’s see if it pays off for him
I say Vol 4 and S/T are the worst but they’re still 4/5 in my book. Prob should up paranoid to a 4.5. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath also a 4.5 with Master of Reality being an easy 5 for me.
Agreed with the title track and nib being all timers. Imagine hearing that first song in fucking 1969.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, I really don’t see too many people mentioning how influential Iommi’s guitar playing heavily influenced Jerry Cantrell even if you don’t hear Sabbath as much in Alice In Chains as a whole.
Those are my two riff gods. They’re just a tier above everyone else imo

"Imagine hearing that first song in fucking 1969"
Surely a pants-shitting experience I'd imagine
Vol 4 is easily my least fav of the first 6, but Snowblind is a classic. You could rank the other 5 albums in pretty much any order and not get much argument from me
