That never felt like a U2 song to me. Not really what I associate them with. Fun fact, that was actually one of the first Green Day songs I ever heard because I loved some U2 when I was little.

I think this would easily be a 4 for me if it had the same quality in the second half. The first half is for the most part really fucking good and very weird for Green Day's career. Maybe I should rate it 4.0, i mean you really only need to take out like 4 or 5 songs and you still have a 12 song album that should be a 4. Does that make sense to do?

I think this would be a 4 for me if it was a different album.

Odd, the second half is where the actual good songs crop up imo

Edit: on second look some do slip in the first half, didnt realize this beast was 18 tracks long

Its all about Peacemaker and Horseshoes. But there's two tracks in each half i like

Always thought the first half was the better half yes, I feel like Murder City and Static Age are pretty forgettable, also the closer is quite meh

Make a playlist and put Homecoming after Song of the Century. Imagine them opening a set like that.

There's a live version of 21 guns where Billie Joe just belts the chorus and its like, wtf why did he not do that on the album, what was that "TWENTY ONE ᴳᵁᴺˢ" bullshit

I feel like time (and more critically Green Day's recent output) has been kind to this album

Album has always been good and that's at the bare minimum, this album feels like American Idiot part 2: Electric Boogaloo to me, quite literally

Agreed hard. This is inconsistent but compared to what they've put out after its actually listenable.

Interestingly this is the second most popular on Spotify behind Dookie, if the ordering of popular releases is reliable.
