Imagine calling this average in 2022. Yeah nah, you guys clearly feel this is a monumental piece of work.
Haters will still try to deal with it in 2026.

"Imagine calling this average in 2022."
I mean, if I can dream it I can be it, baby ; )
And I dunno, all other Tool albums sound like they have their own style (Rawness of Undertow, weirdness/heaviness of Aenima, spiritual/intellectual Lateralus, emotional 10k Days). This one just kinda feels like generic Tool for the first time imo

It amazes me just how closely Led Zeppelin and Tool track. Both start out with quick, high energy music and both close their careers with long, bloated, overindulgent prog-ish tracks.

‘It's also amazing to me how long the album is, and yet how little actually happens on it.’ (3)
Most based Eons take I can remember, nice work 👍
but I’m probably just bitter or something, I have so much invested in whether the internet community think Tool are good or not, oh wait… 🤔

The Chinese Democracy of Tool

A Chinese democracy sounds more plausible than this band ever being vaguely good again.

I don't understand how anyone who is Tool fan can dislike this release. It is literally the most "Tool" out of all the "Tool". I get that it wont grab the attention of people who dislike the band, but to me this is just a great example of why this band is great to begin with.

"I don't understand how anyone who is Tool fan can dislike this release. It is literally the most "Tool" out of all the "Tool". "
Hence the problem.
It's the first time it doesn't feel all that different imo

I love the album, but I kinda agree with Lucca's take here: it doesn't really bring much new to the table... but wow, the quality of what it does!!!

As a Tool fan since like, 2000, this album didn't do all that much for me. The initial hype wore off quick, and I don't think I could listen to this album in full again. Culling Voices is also boring AF. I don't like that song. Also felt the production fell flat. Every time I listened to Descending that gong splash never hit me the way I wanted it to. Guess it has to be live. The one song I return to the most is Pneuma. Every song is too long. I wanted more focused, shorter songs, instead of every song being an extended jam session.
If Tool put out an EP of like 4-6 minutes song, I'd be all about that.

Here I am again @Egarran. I'm proud to see you are still defending the Tool fortress and enduring another haters assault.
