neither of their music was ever removed, they just got taken off of official spotify playlists but X was pretty quickly reinstated back on them. r kelly's still shadowbanned on dsp's

as far as i'm aware BOTDF is one of the only acts that got removed due to this stuff, not even lostprophets has been removed. Good riddance to Dahvie tho, he can get fucked by a cactus

I can’t remember the last time an album did such a 180 on me. This is growing on me like wild fire and it might even be second best Kendrick album for me now. It’s definitely top 3.

Even counting untitled unmastered, this is solidly number 3 for me but I think it’s a very bold claim to say that it even touches GKMC or TPAB. Just listened to TPAB for the first time in years probably a month ago and god that record fucking slays.
I think there’s a few tracks here (wacced out murals, luther, man at the garden, and especially reincarnated) that can hang with those records but the thing as a whole just feels like what DAMN should’ve been.
And that’s not an insult to DAMN, you know you got a killer discography when that’s the worst.

Dropped my rating cuz 4.5 was generous but still a fun enjoyable listen

i'd say this is better than mr morale and prob section 80 and that's it
we are now 8 years removed from damn's release and i just have trouble seeing this aging as well as that one. luther will prob stick around forever, reincarnated is vintage kendrick but the rest of this feels supremely "of its time" in the way his black panther stuff did. who's still listening to king's dead or big shot in 2025? two songs that were completely inescapable for 6 months and pretty much never discussed again.
that isn't to say i won't be enjoying squabble up and hey now until the wheels fall off the same way i did those but

GKMC is a great album that also feels like I missed the most relevant time of it since its biggest hit was no doubt Swimming Pools, and it took a while for me to get with that

heard that shit in GTAV and became a fan for life. Damn 2013… what a time

And Alex maybe ur right, I haven’t really thought about it that much. Damn still sounds great to me, but this just hits harder imo and Mr Morale, as much as I like so much of it, there’s just too much of it. I haven’t listened to it in a minute but there’s absolutely no reason for it to be as long as something like TPAB

i remembered swimming pools came out during my most annoyingly rockist phase, where i'd barely listen to rap because i associated with people who'd say things like "rap isn't music/is crap" and being a young teen at the time, i didn't want to abandon my friends or be abandoned, so i went along with it. and i assumed that song was just a pro-drinking anthem at the time lol

im expecting this to age much better than damn did but damn was also lowkey never that great. that said, this album doesnt have bono on it which by default makes damn better

@venin
I thought it was about the complete opposite thing too, but I loved it. my dumbass 17 year old self heard it and was like “drinking fuck yeah dude”. You’re absolutely not alone in completely missing the point of that track at the time lol
And onion I think you got it switched up, this album doesn’t have bono on it, which immediately makes it better
I’m mostly kidding. Love that track.

Bono is a literal number two, South Park told me so
And yeah at the time I didn't wanna hear what I thought was "mindless self-indulgence" of sorts

venin youre whole thing is wanting to reject the ideas of people telling you what to think about music, you should know better than to let south park of all things tell you what to think about u2!
