I know what I'm going to do when I'm dejected at the state of the world and life in general. I'm going to read some out-of-touch rich author's book written 50 years ago and pick up a thesaurus instead of turning to what's kept me going for the last decade because some internet nerds decided to play armchair 9th grade English teacher on me and assigned me "homework"!

"this is just making me sad now"
Almost as sad as the iilluminaughtii sitaution going on right now on Youtube. Not sure who's following that right now (I am, since I used to be a fan of hers), but holy christ is it bad

this is just making me sad now [4] I think I’m done posting this thread. Venin, hope you develop yourself enough to look on these last couple pages with embarrassment.

"y'all really want to be right so badly SMDH i can't think of anything more pretentious and trying to be smart than begging someone to read a book for expressing an opinion"
Saying this and ETF went over peoples heads isn't an opinion.

@koris: Lol so you're comparing not wanting to be treated like I'm still in high school English class with plagiarism, got it

There's nothing wrong with defending an album you like but you are going about it in incredibly awful way.

ur brain on sleep token: Paris In Flames good bc direct and true bc singer gay
ur brain on books: as per most Thursday lyrics, Paris In Flames is tbh a highly metaphorically charged piece about queer communities being shat on by corporate metropolitan hell (aka 00s NYC). Every other line is figurative. This is maybe why you missed the subtle gap that it is NOT about Geoff Rickly's sexuality (guy was comfortably married at the time, and not out in any capacity (which afaik remains the case today?)) but a well-placed solidarity anthem. This was all there on the page and you do not need a thesaurus to parse nuance.

This went beyond defending an album and straight into embarassing ones self in a massive way multiple times. I was going to say theres plenty of books that are easy to read....but i realise now its not worth the effort

@venin
1) If "not wanting to be treated like I'm still in high school" is what you got out of this thread, I'm not sure what to tell you
2) I was mainly using the iiluminaughtii thing to redirect the conversation of this thread, but her whole debacle goes well beyond just plagarism. Blair's an absolute monster, and I'm fucking disgusted that I was ever a fan of her work

Many of life’s hardships are universal in their applicability, but when they and their nuances are reduced to the somewhat shallow depths of instagram poetry’s, “Just enough detail for you to latch onto, but not enough for me to have actually said anything,” you begin to wonder about the standards for lyrics these days. They’re not much more than gaudy trinkets you pull from the dollar bin once you’ve removed your projections from their gaps, leaving them as shaking, vacuous cocoons just abandoned

I'll be honest I don't read much at all, it's not really something I spend the time doing outside of articles etc. You don't need to read to be eloquent, however it certainly helps. I do enjoy my fair share of it from time to time but more easy going stuff. Currently reading the Dune series and Witcher next.

Koris, what's going on with this youtuber you mentioned? I saw on a fandom wiki she got exposed but it doesn't really describe in much detail of what.

literally just read whatever new books are released every day there are books about everything. in every language. at every level of every language. a lot of them are fucking easy to read. find an easy book. about something you care about. that you want to read for your own reasons. that you can approach meaningfully without depending on cheap cathartic gratification behind every single point of engagement. reading is something people do with their hearts as well as their heads. it is about how much richer the world can be if you get the two to pal up. you can do it.

Dune is a fucking beast of a book and kinda tough because every detail matters, you cant skim over it. Its dense and wonderful but every little bit matters

@ectier: oh i know there are, they just typically aren't the ones people recommend because a lot of book nerds have their head so far up their behind they redirected into thinking high school english homework was fun bc they wanna seem smarter
@Koris: "I was mainly using the iiluminaughtii thing to redirect the conversation of this thread, but it goes well beyond just plagarism. Blair's an absolute monster, and I'm fucking disgusted that I was ever a fan of her work"
ngl I had never heard of her till now but i'm not surprised it went way past that. why is humanity like this -_-
@MoM: in other words, "simple lyrics bad, not metaphorical enough"

@FearThyEvil I'm going to quote what I posted on her community thread:
In April, Blair (iilluminaughtii) accused Youtuber Legal Eagle of stealing her "editing style", despite the fact that her effects are used by several other content creators on the platform. Blair apologized to Legal Eagle and his editor Danny, both privately and publicly, but this situation basically opened the floodgates for former collaborators to call her out.
The main players here are The Click, WonderstruckGuy, One Topic at a Time, and Oz, who all collaborated with her as part of the channel Sad Milk. Accusations leveled at Blair include (but are not limited to): falsely calling out The Click for enabling pedophilic behavior in his Discord, paying people upwards of $200 to dig up dirt on him and his colleagues, creating alt accounts to harass said colleagues, posting Wonder's suicidal ideations in her response video, taking Wonder under her wing only to screw him over and throw away all of his belongings (including his Youtube play button), and much more. And unlike Blair, the people responding to her have incredibly convincing receipts to prove their claims.
And as a result of this, she's lost over 200,000 subscribers and basically become the Voldemort of the Youtube sphere

venin i have never met anybody who so adamantly rejects the broadening of their own intellectual horizons while attempting to throw everybody under the bus for being """close minded""" the way youve done so many times this thread and it is a shame and not funny. please grow up one day
