My burning question about this band, as they and Meshuggah are probably the most popular djent bands, why oh why is such a horrible sound so “in” right now? I was listening to Spiritbox yesterday and wondered that as one of the more irritating songs came on.

The meshuggah copy rhetoric is getting so tired. This album sounds nothing like meshuggah

I did not say they sound alike. To be clear I like some djenty bands but in general I’ve heard so many horrible unoriginal takes on it. I don’t even like Meshuggah lol

Not directed towards you, I've seen the comparison made a ton on this album and I just don't hear it besides the 7 string guitars

because for all its technicality... its a very low effort sound that is super easy to write. and its also just fun.

also feel like popular music in general has become far more rhythmically inclined in the last decade or so and djent is sorta metal's version of that

It CAN be fun I.E. Spiritbox, Animals As Leaders, Uneven Structure, Invent Animate, even TesseracT sometimes, but the rest is found insufferable. Oh well.

Bro you think djent is in now
Go back 5-10 years and every metalcore band was trying to hit the djunz. It was inescapable

The acacia strain are the first core band that I’m aware of that did the whole meshuggah thing

I think that’s why it gets memed on. Like, they’re so far apart in a lot of ways that are pretty clear. Though, i do want someone to edit Spencer into a Meshuggah song for the chaos

Exactly. It’s more fun to just meme on it

If i could copy and paste all 62 pages before this one, i would do it!

Gonna gradually work on copy pasting the Fear Inoculum thread into this one, one comment at a time

Celestinaught has a point about copypasta'ing and the lack of originality, which is actually amusingly ironic that in a Periphery thread of all places, he's getting copypasta'd into oblivion, lol

However, it is admittedly still rather tempting to simply copy all their comments, again (also please copy this comment, ta)
