Yeah, idk. As I look harder, it's gotten to a point where neither party looks so great in this. It could be ill-founded shit spewing on both sides or they could both have grains of truth in there (which I'm just more inclined to believe what Kenny's saying about Drake/his camp just comparing their images over the years, but I'm not gonna jump behind the fed level allegations until I see more than a rap diss), or they both could be telling the whole truth, which I somehow doubt a lot.
Like, Drake's very questionable antics are not news and I've been calling him a culture vulture and a creep for years, but a lot of Kendrick's music in the last 8 years has devolved into shakey moralizing with less and less substance as the time passes. And if he's ever attacked Whitney, that's a huge knock on his character compared to "gambling addictions, pill popping, a nympho fetish" which can be all be victimless. Kendrick wants to call him a flat out, no holds barred predator and put him right next to WEINSTEIN and say he should DIE but had no issues featuring Kodak Black, who has cases of every variety including SA on his resume, on his last album. Why, is it because he's darker or actually from the hood??
It's just fucking messy and ugly and I now question what the end goal even is.
And it's weirdly symbolic. Lightskin suburban Canadian Drake representing and even contributing to the decline of modern hip hop into another permutation of vapid pop music, where money, chart success, and fame are law and Kendrick being the darkskin American torchbearer for the hip hop old guard and the artistry, deeply resenting Drake for what he represents.
