It pains me to say anything negative about this band as I'm such a big fan of their last three masterpieces but after listening to most of the new songs it seems to me that 'Erase me' is either the sound of a band finally selling out, making some (very) questionable decisions on their musical direction or simply compromising too much as they no longer want to make heavy and discordant (yet still somehow beautiful) music as on the previous two releases especially. Perhaps they left it a little too long for the return.
I would've bought this on CD as always with their stuff (usually prior to hearing any new material) but 'Rapture' was a bit of an alarm bell for me to maybe check out some more before parting with my cash this time. Sadly I can't see this one growing on me.

Spencer talked about Sleepwave going in a radiohead direction before thinking he should revive "rock n roll" and i really wish Underoath had gone more experimental when they decided to shift away from "metalcore". But oh well there are a lot of other good bands out there and i dunno, if i was in a band that made disambiguation i would be pretty happy with myself. I've listened to Unsound every day since this came out and this whole album pales in comparison.

Just to think how great of a guitarist Tim is and then to hear how this album just doesn't really have any guitars at all is heartbreaking.

This album is a plain and simple cash grab

I feel half this album is enjoyable and either has good ideas or just fun songs, while the rest falls into the pits of generic radio rock, it's solidly catchy generic radio rock, but that's not really what most fans want to see from a band as talented as Underoath.

Has everyone in here checked out Glasslands? I really feel like they've already made the follow up to DTGL that some UO fans have been waiting for. I have no connection to the band I just love their first album. It's so good if you enjoy music like this. Demons might be my favorite song of theirs but they are all really quite good.

Looked up one of their songs, certainly ain't bad. Wouldn't say I dug it as much as I liked Underoath from DTGL through Disambiguation, but I'll have to look more into them.

@DreamAgain Just checked them out. They sound nothing like Underoath. If anyone wants a band that sounds like UO used to, check out Never I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMpr0_KsOUg

Glasslands is very similar to UO imo. They don't scream nearly as much that's true but in terms of atmosphere and tone it's quite similar.
@steak have you heard Limbs?
