Sometimes I wish they had more songs that were that dynamic, but on the other hand: riffs

"Sometimes I wish they had more songs that were that dynamic, but on the other hand: riffs" Might've been cooler if they went the dynamic song route instead of what we ended up with on Book Burner and Head Cage. At least, I didn't think a whole lot of those records.

They’re fine but yeah nowhere near Prowler, this, or Phantom Limb imo, that 38 Counts of Battery reissue is pretty fire too

sometimes you just hear something that is so monumental and obviously genre defining that you are in awe. prowler is an excellent album but this even takes it a step higher. the riffs are just absolutely insane, a phenomenal variety from so many subgenres from sludge, metalcore, thrash, death metal, hardcore. it's got it all and is so memorable. towering flesh is an absolute behemoth. and on top of that jr is at the top of his game here, idk if i've ever heard someone as vicious and animalistic as he is. obviously that led to him destroying his voice but that just adds to the legend of this band.
it really transcends the genre and makes most other grind look so pedestrian. got everything i love about metal in one, riffz, maniac vocals, dissonance, speed and tempo changes, rawness and tinges of pushing the boundaries. all timer that i really wish i heard sooner.

Pig Destroyer are my all time favourite band. I met Scott Hull at Hellfest in 2009 and he asked me "how do I get on stage dude?" I chuckled and said " I don't know, I'm just here to see you!".
Then, whilst they were playing Piss Angel, I yelled from the front of the crowd , "YOU WRITE THE SICKEST FUCKING RIFFS EVER!!".
And by God he saluted me.

Am I the only one who feels like the ending riff of Pretty in Casts is very Slipknot-esque? Like these guys are way better than Slipknot could ever be but that always jumped out at me for some random reason.

Is a little bit Slipknot=esque...
Nothing wrong with Slipknot. Almost half or maybe most of their albums are sick.

As great as this is, it’s better with time and Phantom Limb is almost as good.

Slipknot has some killer riffs, I’m not ashamed to say they have some good material. Corey Taylor does bring it down a notch or two tho
Like he’s actually a great vocalist but man his lyrics are fucking god awful

I’m not shitting on Slipknot, they have some strong 7/10 records and great songs I’ll never forget, PxDx is just some of the most unfuckwithable heavy music oat.
