You probs should do some research. Try to find the most financially sound/least disheartening path you can find.

Just do something that will always be needed. If it's something you don't hate, then all the better. I followed my heart with teaching but trying to find a stable job within a district is like trying to predict how many guys and exactly whom Taylor Swift will date in a given year...it's all madness.

I teach at a behavioral modification alternative high school. I wish I taught real students. If I don't get a district job in the next two years I might just start stocking shelves at Target or something.

:-( Not sure I understand how this two year deadline would lock you out of teaching.

i met some teachers in my education class who relished teaching alternative HS students (they view their jobs as social justice) but they stressed it's not for everyone.

isn't it possible to switch districts? or can't the unions help you out?

I wouldn't be locked out, I would walk away willingly.

Teaching classrooms of 25 kids at a time who were arrested, expelled or both is just as much about herding and prodding as it is teaching...

Alternative schools aren't associated with districts. I'm not on any kind of waiting list or in a union.

Oh ok, I see what you mean. I hope an opportunity presents itself.

Thanks...but that brings me back to my original point. Do something that will always be in demand by employers. Unfortunately, that comes before personal interests in today's job market/economy

@SS that's interesting, the alternative school here is associated with our district. and oh i see, in california i don't think you can get a job as a teacher without joining the teacher's union which is really powerful here. good luck with everything then

It's definitely one of the better songs off this. Though I think State Of Grace may be my favourite.
