I still have to hear Vol. 4 and Mob Rules from their classic stuff but first 6 and Heaven and Hell are some of the best metal ever made. GOAT band.

budg apart from changes honestly that record sounded a tad tired...as tired as a band in their prime still capable of greatness could sound. like they wrote 3 classic/near-classics in a row and were struggling to come up with stuff
and thats not me talkin shit, Iommi will even say that himself, it's clear he needed to be reinvigorated, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath felt like it was exactly what they needed. this continued that

i mean you're disagreeing with tony iommi here too, if he says he felt uninspired during the writing process and I have this feeling that the album sounds a little more tired than the last? i think iommi's word is the one I trust ig

Vol 4 is one of those albums that stood the test of time better than most of their others for me. Popularity and overplayed hits have a lot to do with that. When I reach for Sabbath present day, it's usually the debut or Vol 4, followed by this one.

Vol. 4 rules. Draw a straight line from Vol. 4 to Kyuss.
