I like the new album but man does it ever sound lifeless next to this masterpiece.

La Dispute is pretty much the Coldplay of post-hardcore. Everybody pokes fun at them yet they still like them.
Shit comparison because nobody feels the need to be elitist about Coldplay.

no one is being elitist they just don't like La Dispute and are telling themselves they have to justify this opinion so they're acting like they know anything about anything
which I guess is kind of elitist but it's not intended that way and you guys abuse that word so much to the point that it doesn't carry any meaning anymore. kind of like how "hipster" is used now.

a few of the soundoffs on the new one sound elitist, at least a little bit like Hanson's one
and that one about Touche being the same band (which is a little retarded). i get that it's all in fun
but come on the band's not just a platform for people to flash their witty witty not really
witty at all jokes

@Aids, I actually see Rooms Of The House as the progression La Dispute should have taken in Wildlife but didn't. I mean, this is amazing, a 5 as well, but yeah, Rooms Of The House is such a consistent, well-structured and brilliant record. For now it's my fav La Dispute.
Although The Last Lost Continent is still their best track. Ever.

to each their own but you like Rooms of the House more than this? that seriously shocks me. Are you sure you're not just high on the fact that they have a new LP?

I start to find some things on Rooms that I can't find on River, such as a sense of maturity from
the band, lyricwise and soundwise. There are still moments when La Dispute explode and burst some
heaviness onto their sound, such as the opener Hudsonville, but there are moments where La Dispute
approach the listener with their softer side, with songs like the two highlight Woman tracks and the
closer Objects In Space. Of course, River is more of an emotional and tear-jerking album than Rooms
Of The House, but Rooms dwells on that emotional side more maturely in a shorter running-time and I
see that as an advantage.
Rooms might eventually grow off me, though. It's a new album that instantly pleased me big time upon
my first listen and it still grabs me for another handful of jams. The imagery Dreyer paints in the
listener's head is just disturbingly magical. Still, I'm really suspicious about my enjoyment of
River, it's really subjective due to the fact that it helped me a lot getting through a break-up.

I really liked this record 2 or 3 years ago but coming back to it, everything just felt a little melodramatic. It seems like all the hate they get is because of this album, or maybe even more so because of such small hands. I have so many friends who shit on this band and they've only heard such small hands.
