@Symbolic we made you has the same effect honestly. 2009 was a strange year.

Although it's obvious that this is (East Jesus) nowhere near from being a perfect album, it's honestly really fun seeing a band that was ambitious inside the mainstream rock genre. If only more artists strived for more creativity without sacrificing catchiness. This is honestly better than I remember it being.

Yeah some really good stuff here - some rubbish as well but it's GD after all.

Was it ambitious tho? Came off more like they were trying to do american idiot all over again
|
| |
I'd call this ambitious, I can't think of many pop-punk bands trying to make 2 giant Rock operas back to back

I remember watching the video for know your enemy when it came out thinking that that drum opening and riff was the coolest thing ever. It felt so cool to be getting into a green day album when it was new.
Wish I could be that excited about anything now

Dang I feel that. I personally thought Rev Radio was pretty hype when it came out. Guess I just have a bunch of memories listening to it, because it was the album that got my friends into Green Day, so we all knew it.

Yeah. I'd probably say it's about the same for me. It's grown off some, but it's still pretty decent. Still love the closing tracks a lot. It's like their 6th or 7th best album for me though.

I was 14 when this came out. Pretty much the perfect age for it... one of those albums I know inside out but don't actually like that much haha. Still have a certain fondness for parts of it though.

this and AI are a 5, its green day at their ambitious peak, only song I dont really care for on this album is Christian's inferno and even then I'm coming around on it now, yes theres 21 Guns, but that song marked one of the last times rock was mainstream, sure it was everywhere but it's a good f0ckin song, I really dont understand peoples hate boner towards it. On a side note, what are peoples thoughts on "The Saints Are Coming" collab with green day and U2? I say this because I really find myself associating that song with 21stCB a lot, I thought it was a really cool collab personally
|
| |
Once you hear the live version of 21 Guns on Awesome as Fuck where Armstrong full-sends those high notes in the chorus, the album version will forever sound wimpy by comparison
The u2 collab was very boring imo, Green Day kind of dominated the whole thing, which is probably for the best since late 2000s u2 should not be dominating anything, but idk they might as well have just credited it to "Green Day feat. Bono".

love that somber opening to Saints personally, it's for sure more Green Day than U2, I like the track overall
