More like John hates it. I haven't heard anyone else in the band openly loathe their own art besides him really.

i'd definitely agree that ashes is the most immediately accessible record they've made

Agreed Sowing, but this and The White EP come really close

I need to listen to more Agalloch tbh before I can even back that statement. I just wanted to show my undying love for The Mantle because I hardly ever discuss metal here lol.

Not only that, but he complains about how it's too polished and how it's their "pop" record. Like since when did pop=bad lol

yeah, I was thinking to myself "Sowing in a metal thread? Okay then..."

Btw check The White EP. Its basically a neofolk album but stylistically its closest to The Mantle.

@mongi: huh? (the pop thing) edit: nvm I juist realized you were continuing a conversation from the top of
the page...and yes, if it's folky metal I'll probably enjoy it.

@crysis: I'll make it my next agalloch album. I go in streaks with metal and I've been craving it more
lately.

@emester: thanks for the rec, will listen...and yeah, seeing me in a metal thread is about as common as
seeing crysis in an indie-pop thread. it happens, but you have to do a double take.

what you don't know is that i lurk indie pop threads all the time

the white isn't metal, it's neofolk with a very slight tinge of ambient
