I've never seen pop-punk as a genre to be taken too seriously. I lump it in with hair metal. As long as it's loud, catchy and occasionally bittersweet and sad I'm rather happy with it.

I'll check some of those Snake, need to broaden my pop-punk horizons past the more obvious names.

yeah im gonna jam some of those too. last pop punk i listened to was alkaline trio (which was in like february when i jammed) until last night i czeched an album from park (not sure how i stumbled on them but theyre pretty sweet), and it kinda resparked the interest.

I'm sure I'll get shit on for this, but I still love the Wonder Years.

EDIT: I also saw the Menzingers back in like 2006. They were called Bob and the Sagets back then. I can't believe how popular they've gotten now. They're from my hometown.

Listen to On The Impossible Past by Menzingers. Also not sure why Snake didn't mention them but don't forget The Future Is Cancelled by Captain Were Sinking.

the wonder years are good but i wanted to narrow it down to bands that are fringe orgcore and the wonder years air more on the side of all time low than alkaline trio

I always stood by the idea that The Wonder Years have an advantage over most modern pop punk bands by not having a vocalist who is unbearably whiny sounding.

cigarettes and saints is one of the best songs they've ever written [2]

it has some great cuts, but for the most part the album makes the claim theyre generic af seem valid. most of it is just kind of stale.
